National Memorial Dormans 1914-1918
About the activity
Discover the National Memorial of Dormans 1914-1918 which, from the top of its 52 meters, dominates the Marne Valley. Built between 1921 and 1931, this imposing monument is dedicated to the soldiers who fell during the Great War. Its site was chosen by Marshal Foch, because according to his own words, it represents the synthetic point of the two battles of the Marne. Start your visit with the crypt dedicated to the memory of the soldiers, then the cloister leading to the ossuary where 1,500 soldiers of all nationalities are buried, of which only 11 have been identified, and finally the upper chapel, which is very bright thanks to its monumental stained glass windows.
To finish, access the tower (105 steps) and enjoy a panoramic view of the Marne Valley.
